Quote of The Week

29 Aug

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”    – Nelson Mandela

New Little Mermaid Ride at California Adventure!

11 Aug

The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney movie, so naturally, when I heard there was a new LM themed ride at California Adventure, uh, I was excited.  I used to watch that movie over and over and mouth the words when I was little.  My Little Mermaid VHS was a great babysitter!  For my birthday last year I saw Disney’s “World of Color” night time water/light show, and I cried when Little Mermaid music came on.  Nerd Alert!  Whatevas.  It was beautiful and I have an affinity for nautical things, ok?

In October, I am going to California Adventure, and Disneyland of course, and I am SO excited to ride on Ariel’s Undersea Adventure!  Oh, you want to, too?  Do it now! Go here.

Everytime I hear “Under The Sea” I sing along!  Sebastian is so hilar.

What favorite animated Disney movie makes you nostalgic?

Lucy Turns 100

6 Aug

If Lucille Ball were alive, she would be 100 today!  Lucy has been a staple in my life since I was a little girl!  My mom is a huge fan and even named one of her dogs after Lucy.  I can remember watching episodes of “I Love Lucy” on her tiny black and white TV when we first moved to Kansas.  We eventually upgraded to a bigger screen and every time Lucy was on we had to watch.  Especially Summer Block Party on Nick at Nite.  I miss Lucy Tuesdays!  I can still find her easily, though.  She will always be a staple in little girls lives, I think. 🙂

To say Lucy was a pioneer in entertainment is an understatement.  She lived up to her name, Lucy, which means “light”.  Lucy lit the way and kept everyone warm while she did it.  Happy Birthday, Lucy!

Great interview with Lucy on how she got started in show business.  She’s so fiesty!  And I love that she took her purse on stage! ha

Also, Lucy bio and fun facts:

P.S.  Happy birthday to my best bud, Rula!

Good Morning Scare!
